The AFLUENT Terminal Arad is now a fully integrated terminal in the METRANS system, directly connecting it to the METRANS Hub Terminal Budapest Csepel.
This means that the company is able to offer all of its services close to the Romanian town of Arad, these include an empty container depot and delivery or collection of containers by truck in Romania.
“With the new connection, there are also opportunities for the Port of Hamburg to gain new volumes. There are already many inquiries,” said Krisztina Kovács, Head of the Port of Hamburg Marketing Representative.
This new connection will ensure the transport of sea containers not only between Romania and the port of Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam, and Koper but all destinations within the METRANS distribution network across Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary to name just a few.
The Port of Gothenburg has also recently announced it will increase its number of rail departures between the port and Piteå from one to two per week.
The rail shuttle between the Port of Gothenburg and Piteå began operating in April 2021 and a further departure each week has now been added.
This represents a doubling of capacity to 144 TEU per week.
Compared with a feeder solution via the Baltic, carbon emissions are reduced by 87% and the transport time by almost a week.
The obvious advantages of rail have led to an increase in demand for shuttle services to northern Sweden. First Row Shipping & Logistics AB has responded with plans to introduce a third departure at the beginning of 2022.
