Ben Beirnaert studied economic sciences and later completed a middle management course at Vlerick Management School.
In 1994, he began his career with IFB at the Dry Port Muizen terminal, where he worked as a train planner/operator/crane driver.
In 1999, he transitioned to the IT department of IFB’s headquarters in Zeebrugge, where he served as a liaison between IT and operations and contributed to the startup of various terminals such as Duinkerke (maritime terminal) and Main Hub (intermodal terminal)
By 2001, he had become the Operations Manager for all 7 IFB terminals, overseeing a total capacity of over 750,000 units.
In 2009, he became the CEO of Combinant, the “open access” terminal in the port of Antwerp Bruges
He’s also active as a board member of UIRR and ABAS (the Antwerp stevedoring association)
