Gerry has more than 25 years in industry experience with over 20 years focused on transportation and logistics. His experiences include designing the transportation plan for Union Pacific Railroad’s intermodal network, to managing and overseeing a wide range of designs, capital expansions & modernizations for intermodal terminals. He has served in several key strategic roles in the organization including having operational oversight for the acquisition & distribution of intermodal assets (railcars, containers & chassis) as well as leadership of the maintenance and repair functions for intermodal. Gerry has served on numerous industry committees with the Association of American Railroads, and the Intermodal Association of North America helping to evolve and grow the intermodal business.
Prior to joining Union Pacific, Gerry started his career in 1994 with Noranda Mining and Exploration, working underground in a copper & zinc mine. He moved into transportation and logistics at Noranda prior to joining Union Pacific.
Gerry graduated from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada with a BSc in Engineering, specializing in Mining and Mechanical Engineering. He is a licensed and registered professional engineer. Gerry has 2 daughters, age 17 and 14, and a step-son 12 and step-daughter, 8 . Besides spending time with family, he enjoys a variety of motorsports, and has spent a lot of time volunteering as a fire fighter and emergency medical technician.
Gerry is currently serving as Sr. Vice President, Optimization Design and Consulting for Remprex LLC based out of Chicago, IL, USA.
