With 35 years of experience in port related research and development projects, Maurits has a profound knowledge of port processes, port planning, container logistics and hinterland accessibility. He has been involved in numerous projects in these fields mainly for the Rotterdam area, but also in international consultancy projects.

Maurits van Schuylenburg joined the Port of Rotterdam Authority after his graduation at the Technical University Delft in 1986. Started as a researcher at the Research & Development department, he has been involved in many studies regarding fairway capacity, long term investigations in global developments of ships, ports, transport, logistics, hinterland connections, the design of the Second Maasvlakte etc.

Since 2012 he is Programme Manager at the Commercial Department and is involved in projects regarding the hinterland accessibility by rail, container logistics, long term forecasts, customs and security of the port and member of several international advisory and working groups. Next to that Maurits is author and co-author of around 30 scientific publications and 2 books on port related research and projects.
